IT Infrastructure Engineer (3rd Line) Work on major infrastructure projects across a large, international business. Are you an experienced Infrastructure Engineer who enjoys getting hands-on with technology rather than being restricted to one specialist area? Would you like a role where approximately 70% of your time is dedicated to infrastructure projects, with the opportunity to work across servers, networking, virtualisation, cloud technologies and cyber security? We're recruiting for an established international manufacturing organisation that is investing heavily in modernising its IT infrastructure across multiple UK and European sites. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced 3rd Line Engineer looking for greater technical variety, interesting projects and the chance to make a genuine impact. The Role You'll join an established infrastructure and operations team responsible for supporting a large, complex, multi-site IT environment. With approximately 70% of your time focused on projects, you'll be involved in a wide variety of infrastructure improvements, upgrades and deployments. Some of the key projects include: * Data Centre Modernisation: Replacing infrastructure and migrating virtual environments supporting over 100 servers. * Networking & SD-WAN Upgrades: Refreshing legacy HP networking equipment with Cisco technologies and deploying Cisco Meraki infrastructure across multiple sites. * Server & Virtualisation Projects: Modernising Windows Server environments, implementing new server clusters and working with Azure, VMware, Hyper-V and other virtualisation platforms. * New Site Deployments: Designing and implementing networking, Wi-Fi and infrastructure for new offices and operational facilities. * Unified Communications: Supporting the introduction of a standardised communications platform across European locations. Alongside these projects, you'll troubleshoot complex technical issues, maintain infrastructure reliability and work closely with colleagues across the IT function. What We're Looking For We're looking for an experienced, technically capable engineer who enjoys variety, takes ownership of technical challenges and is comfortable working across different infrastructure technologies. Essential experience: * Strong experience in a genuine 3rd Line Support or Infrastructure Engineering position. * Good knowledge of Windows Server, Windows desktop environments, Microsoft Azure and Microsoft 365. * Hands-on experience with virtualisation technologies such as VMware, Hyper-V or Nutanix. * Networking knowledge covering switches, LAN, WAN and wireless infrastructure. * Experience supporting business-critical IT infrastructure, with strong troubleshooting, analytical and problem-solving skills. Additional experience that would be beneficial: Experience with Cisco, Meraki or HP networking would be advantageous, along with exposure to enterprise backup solutions such as Veeam or Rubrik. Knowledge of infrastructure monitoring tools such as SolarWinds, or technologies including Barracuda, Ivanti, CyberArk, SIEM or Cylance, would also be beneficial. You don't need experience with every technology listed. We're particularly interested in engineers with a broad infrastructure background and deeper expertise in a few technical areas. Working Arrangements This is predominantly an on-site position based in Malton, North Yorkshire. The on-call rota is supported by a first-line service desk, which handles most incidents. Escalations are relatively infrequent, and most can be resolved remotely. Important: Applicants must hold a full driving licence, have access to a car and live within approximately one hour's driving distance of the Malton site. What's On Offer? 33 days annual leave, including public holidays, a pension scheme, life assurance and access to an employee benefits and discounts platform. If you're an experienced Infrastructure Engineer looking for a technically varied role where you'll be actively involved in delivering projects rather than just maintaining existing systems, we'd love to hear from you
