Avanti Recruitment is working with a specialist engineering company that designs and manufactures advanced scientific equipment used in research and industrial R&D. They are looking for an Embedded Controls Engineer to help develop the next generation of their control systems. This is an R&D-focused position centred around embedded C/C++, microcontrollers and electronics. The company is at an early stage of moving towards a new embedded control architecture, giving the successful engineer genuine input into how future systems are designed and developed. The Role * Develop embedded software using C/C++ * Develop control systems around microcontrollers * Help define new embedded software architecture * Integrate software with electronics and physical hardware * Test, debug and validate complex equipment * Support new product development * Diagnose software and hardware issues * Work closely with the wider engineering team What We're Looking For Strong embedded C/C++ and microcontroller experience is the priority, alongside a good understanding of electronics and hardware integration. You should be comfortable reading schematics and ideally have experience developing embedded products rather than solely maintaining existing systems. Experience with PCB design, Git, MISRA C, IEC 61508, PID control, scientific equipment or industrial control systems would be beneficial but is not essential. Package £35,000 to £45,000 plus 25 days' holiday, birthday off, flexi time, early Friday finish, 5% matched pension, Life Assurance, Share Incentive Plan, Bupa benefits and performance-related bonus. The role is office based in Knutsford initially, with potential flexibility following the three-month probation period
