Avanti Recruitment is working with a London-based fintech to hire a Graduate Software Developer to join a small, high-performing engineering team. This is a genuine early-career opportunity for someone who wants to learn quickly, take on real responsibility and build production software from the outset. The company has deliberately built a lean engineering team made up of a small number of experienced developers alongside strong graduates and juniors. The graduates they have hired over the last year or so have progressed quickly, and they are now looking for the next person to come in and develop in the same environment. The culture is relaxed, collaborative and sociable. Engineers work closely together, sit near the commercial team and have exposure to customers, so this is not the sort of role where you disappear into the background and simply work through tickets. They are looking for someone bright, curious and hungry to learn. Someone who asks questions, thinks independently and wants to understand why something works, not just how to make it work. The company also uses AI heavily throughout the software development process, but they are not looking for an AI specialist. They care much more about strong engineering fundamentals and whether you can look at the output from modern tools critically. You need to be able to read code, solve problems, challenge assumptions and decide whether a proposed solution is actually the right one. You’ll ideally have: A Computer Science, Software Engineering or related degree Strong programming fundamentals Experience with languages such as C#, Java, Python, JavaScript or TypeScript Evidence of university, personal, internship or placement projects A genuine interest in software engineering outside of coursework The ability to explain technical decisions and the reasoning behind them A willingness to learn, ask questions and take ownership The engineering environment is predominantly Microsoft-based, so experience with C#/.NET, React, Azure, SQL or similar technologies would be useful, but you do not need to match the full stack. The company also supports Microsoft certifications with dedicated learning time and paid exams. This would suit someone who wants to work in a small team, build real software early in their career and develop quickly around people who are already a few steps ahead of them
