About us and the role

We are seeking an enthusiastic, organised and compassionate Student Services Manager to join our dedicated support team.

This is an excellent opportunity to join a school rated Outstanding in all areas by Ofsted in May 2025. Avanti Grange is part of Avanti Schools Trust, a twelve-school multi-academy trust committed to educational excellence and the development of well-rounded young people.

The successful postholder will take lead responsibility for the school's first aid and medical provision, developing and maintaining Individual Healthcare Plans, working closely with families and external professionals, and supporting our statutory duties in relation to allergy safety. They will contribute to the school's safeguarding and welfare work through the analysis of health and wellbeing trends, and will provide reception and administrative support to ensure the smooth operation of the school office.

Educational visits form a significant part of the role. The postholder will provide comprehensive administrative support to trip leaders across the full cycle of a visit, from approval documentation and risk assessments through to parental consent, medical information and the preparation of visit packs.

This role requires a resilient and highly capable individual who is confident working independently, managing competing demands, and maintaining high standards of organisation and accuracy across a busy school.

We are looking for someone who:

  • Has excellent organisational and administrative skills.
  • Can communicate confidently and professionally with pupils, parents, staff and external agencies.
  • Is calm, caring and able to respond appropriately in emergency situations.
  • Has experience of record keeping and maintaining confidential information.
  • Is able to work independently, manage competing priorities and contribute positively to a team.
  • Shares our commitment to safeguarding, inclusion and supporting young people to thrive.

Previous experience in a school environment, or in a first aid, welfare, healthcare or administrative role, would be advantageous but is not essential.

What will you do?

  • Lead the Student Services function, providing a professional, welcoming and supportive first point of contact for students and families while maintaining accurate records and delivering effective pastoral and administrative support.
  • Lead the school's first aid, medical and allergy provision, ensuring appropriate systems, healthcare plans, medication, equipment, training and statutory requirements are maintained to promote the safety and wellbeing of the school community.
  • Support safeguarding and student wellbeing by working closely with the safeguarding, pastoral, attendance and SEND teams, identifying and escalating concerns appropriately and contributing to effective support for students and families.
  • Coordinate the administration of educational visits, parent consultation evenings, whole-school events, rewards and co-curricular activities, ensuring effective planning, communication, record keeping and compliance with school and Trust procedures.
  • Oversee a range of student-facing services and resources, including lockers, lost property, laptop loans, the student shop and clubs, while providing wider administrative and reception support to the school office.

What are we looking for?

  • High level of personal organisation, with strong attention to detail and the ability to work without close supervision
  • Experience of liaising effectively with parents and carers, colleagues and external agencies
  • Experience of prioritising a varied workload and working under pressure
  • Understanding of safeguarding responsibilities, confidentiality and data protection in a school environment
  • Commitment to the safeguarding and welfare of all students
