AvantiGas is looking for an experienced Fleet Manager to take complete ownership of our fleet, compliance and training activity, keeping our vehicles safe, compliant and on the road for the customers who depend on us.

We are looking for someone who thrives on the responsibility of being lead Transport Manager across all our Operating Licences; someone who can balance rigorous compliance standards with commercial pragmatism, and who leads people as confidently as they manage a maintenance contract.

As Fleet Manager, you will have complete oversight and ownership of Fleet, Compliance and Training, providing support to our Logistics & Operations teams and ensuring every vehicle we run meets the highest regulatory and safety standards.

Reporting to the Head of UK Operations & Logistics, you will be the end-to-end owner of all fleet compliance and training activity across AvantiGas, setting standards, enabling best-in-class compliance and conformance, and producing and executing the training plans our people need to do their jobs safely.

You will be the lead Transport Manager across all our Operating Licences, owning the governance and undertakings that go with them, and acting as our subject matter expert for all fleet compliance and training matters.

What You Will Be Doing

  • Act as lead Transport Manager across all AvantiGas Operating Licences, ensuring full compliance with statutory requirements for vehicle operation.
  • Own compliance with drivers' hours, the Working Time Directive, tachograph regulations and ADR/CDG requirements for the carriage of dangerous goods.
  • Liaise with the DVSA, the Traffic Commissioner's office and other regulatory bodies, managing Public Inquiry risk.
  • Take ownership of safe and compliant fleet maintenance, including the design and delivery of the annual fleet budget.
  • Lead improvements in fleet telematic performance, coaching drivers on harsh braking, MPG, idling and speeding.
  • Manage the disposal of fleet vehicles, ensuring a clear, auditable paper trail.
  • Select and manage suppliers, working collaboratively with Procurement on fleet specification, maintenance and workshop selection.
  • Provide support to 3PL operations, including cost scrutiny and expediting vehicle off road (VOR) cases.
  • Oversee the planning and execution of all training requirements, ensuring every team is trained to the highest standard.

What We Are Looking For

  • At least 5 years' experience managing and acting as nominated lead Transport Manager, holding a Transport Manager CPC qualification.
  • Deep knowledge of operating licence requirements, undertakings and obligations, with a strong understanding of EU/GB drivers' hours and the Working Time Directive.
  • A commercially astute background in delivering fleet efficiencies, balancing uptime with safety, compliance and cost.
  • A safety-driven individual who upholds compliance and training standards without compromise.
  • A confident leader who can design and lead teams, with a style that engages and motivates.
  • Comfortable managing suppliers and holding them to account on service and cost, while maintaining strong relationships.

The Rewards

  • Competitive salary
  • Comprehensive benefits package
  • A senior, high-impact leadership role overseeing AvantiGas's fleet, compliance and training
  • Three direct reports and strong support across our Logistics & Operations teams
  • Professional development and ongoing training opportunities
