Hybrid (Home Based with Travel to Branches and Customer Visits as Required).

Our geographic areas are South Buckinghamshire, Hillingdon, Slough , Ealing , Hounslow, Surrey , Sutton , Wandsworth and Richmond.

You must beable to travel in all these areas easily and be located in one of these boroughs or very close.

Job Purpose The Clinical Nurse Consultant will provide expert clinical leadership, governance and oversight to support Avant Healthcare Services in the safe delivery of delegated healthcare tasks and complex care services.

Working in partnership with operational management teams, the postholder will ensure that care workers undertaking delegated healthcare activities are appropriately trained, assessed as competent and supported through ongoing clinical supervision.

The role will strengthen Avant's clinical governance framework, support regulatory compliance, assist with tender opportunities and provide assurance to commissioners, Integrated Care Boards (ICBs), Local Authorities and the Care Quality Commission (CQC).

Key Responsibilities

  • Clinical Governance
  • Act as the organisation's Clinical Lead.
  • Develop and maintain clinical governance frameworks.
  • Provide advice on complex health conditions and healthcare interventions.
  • Support organisational readiness for CQC inspections and audits.
  • Review incidents, safeguarding concerns and clinical complaints from a healthcare perspective.
  • Support risk management relating to delegated healthcare tasks.
  • Delegated Healthcare Activities

Provide oversight of activities including

  • PEG feeding.
  • Enteral feeding.
  • Gastrostomy care.
  • Suctioning.
  • Nebuliser administration.
  • Oxygen therapy.
  • Ventilation support (CPAP/Bi PAP).
  • Stoma care.
  • Catheter management.
  • Medication administration.
  • Other delegated healthcare interventions.
  • Training & Competency Assessment
  • Develop clinical competency frameworks.
  • Deliver clinical training where required.
  • Assess and sign off staff competencies.
  • Complete annual competency reassessments.
  • Undertake competency spot checks and observations.
  • Maintain competency records and evidence.
  • Clinical Supervision

• Provide clinical supervision to

  • Branch Managers.
  • Field Based Managers.
  • Complex Care Coordinators.
  • Care Workers undertaking delegated healthcare tasks.

• Offer advice regarding

  • Complex care packages.
  • Escalation pathways.
  • Clinical concerns.
  • Deterioration management.

Package Reviews

  • Attend customer reviews where clinical input is required.
  • Participate in MDT meetings.
  • Support mobilisation of new complex care packages.
  • Review care plans relating to healthcare interventions.
  • Support outcome monitoring.
  • Commissioner & External Stakeholder Engagement

• Liaise with

  • ICBs.
  • NHS Community Nursing Teams.
  • Children's Continuing Care Teams.
  • Clinical Commissioning Teams.
  • Hospices.
  • Community Matrons.
  • Specialist Nurses.
  • Provide assurance regarding governance arrangements.
  • Attend commissioning meetings when required.
  • Quality Improvement
  • Undertake quarterly clinical audits.
  • Review trends and lessons learned.
  • Develop action plans.
  • Support implementation of best practice guidance.
  • Strategic Development

• Support Avant's expansion into

  • Complex care.
  • Continuing Healthcare.
  • Children's care packages.
  • Ventilation and PEG care.
  • Advise on the benefits and implications of TDDI registration.
  • Support future CQC applications if Avant chooses to extend regulated activities.

Essential Criteria /

Qualifications

  • Registered Nurse (Adult or Children's)
  • Current NMC Registration
  • Minimum 5 years post-registration experience
