Overview of the Senior Land Manager role within the West Yorkshire region, based at Wakefield regional head office.

Responsibilities:

  • Support the Land Director to lead, develop, agree, implement and deliver the region's land acquisition strategy to meet the business plan and growth requirements.
  • Manage the land acquisition process ensuring effective compliance, control and deployment of all available land opportunities.
  • Source and secure land for immediate, short and medium term via agent contacts, planning leads, formal/informal tenders and off-market procurement.
  • Identify the most effective route of procurement from a legal and planning perspective.
  • Assist in achieving planning approvals, working with third party providers and internal departments.
  • Maintain a high profile with external property contacts and develop relationships with local authorities, agents, landowners and other developers.
  • Determine, agree and deliver site start programmes and development programmes within agreed timescales.
  • Prepare effective and relevant legal documentation for each development or phase of development.

Qualifications:

  • Full UK driving licence.
  • Relevant qualification or proven experience in land acquisition, procurement and management.
  • Detailed understanding of legal and planning frameworks associated with land acquisition and development procurement.
  • Technical, legal, financial and commercial awareness.
  • Knowledge of codes of practice affecting land acquisition and planning matters (e.g., Planning Policy, Systems and Frameworks at local level).
  • Strong network of contacts across the region and ability to source land and negotiate best terms.
  • Excellent relationship building, organization and communication skills, able to relate at all levels and maintain a quality-driven approach.
