Due to continued success and future business growth, we have an exciting opportunity for a Group Financial Accountant to join our team based at our Group head office in Barlborough, Chesterfield.
The Role
Are you an ACA or ACCA qualified Accountant looking for a new challenge? Are you a recently qualified Accountant perhaps looking for your first role in industry? Joining our team as Group Financial Accountant, you will work closely with our Senior Group Financial Accountant and Group Financial Reporting Manager to deliver accurate financial reporting for the group.
Key duties and requirements
- Assisting the Senior Group Financial Accountant with the annual external audit process including:
- Co-ordinating the regional and Group year end audit.
- Being a point of contact with the external auditors.
- Preparing the annual statutory accounts for the Group and subsidiaries.
- Accounting for joint ventures within the Group.
- Managing the statutory reporting for newly acquired subsidiaries including the statutory accounts and audit information.
- Preparing month end consolidation adjustments and preparing the consolidated group management accounts.
- Taking responsibility for the monthly reconciliation of intercompany accounts across all Group companies.
- Reviewing and analysing regional management accounts pack submissions, including reporting feedback to the regional finance teams.
- Working with the operational finance teams to ensure complete and accurate information for the monthly management accounts and annual external audit.
- Ensuring the latest reporting requirements and guidance are adhered to.
- Undertaking technical review of accounting standards and assessing their impact on Group accounting policies and reporting.
- Supporting a strong control environment, ensuring that financial controls and processes are in place & maintained.
- Delivering all financial information and analysis to agreed formats, timelines, and standards.
Who are we looking for?
To be successful as our Group Financial Accountant, you must hold a formal Accounting qualification - either ACA or ACCA. Previous experience working within a house building or construction business is desirable yet not essential. You will also possess:
- Strong technical accounting knowledge (in particular IFRS 15).
- Experience in leading or supporting the audit processes.
- A highly organised and flexible approach with the ability to work independently to deadlines, in particular at month end and year end.
- Excellent communication skills and should enjoy working within a team environment.
- Confident working with finance and non-finance team members across the business.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to explain financial information clearly.
- A pro-active self-driven approach with a desire to take ownership to develop themselves.
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
- Experience of COINS desirable but not essential.
