Due to continued success and future business growth, we have an exciting opportunity for a Technical Trainee to join our team based at our West Midlands head office in Coleshill, Birmingham.
The Role
Are you an aspiring Architectural Technician looking to earn while you learn, gaining hands-on industry experience? Are you organised and analytical, with a keen interest in problem-solving? Joining our team as Trainee Architectural Technician, you will be supported and mentored by our regional Technical team which will enable you to gain the skillset and understanding of the technical elements involved within the housebuilding process. This critical role within the housebuilding industry is responsible for the design and engineering of our new homes, providing technical support from the initial construction phase through to the completion and handover of our homes.
Working in partnership with our preferred training provider, you will be enrolled on a day release apprenticeship programme, studying towards a relevant qualification.
Key duties and requirements
- Supporting the preparation of key technical information in order to support the Regional land team with land bids.
- Providing general support to the wider regional teams including Commercial, Sales and Construction on all Technical matters.
- Assisting in the production of key status reports and providing updates to the Technical Director on all KPIs relating to the engineering and design functions.
- Assisting the team with gathering information in relation to external suppliers and agencies.
- Supporting the wider Technical team in the preparation of relevant legal documentation for each development or phase of development.
- Supporting the team with section agreements, ensuring they are approved and submitted in a timely manner.
- Document management.
- Participating in key team meetings in relation to site development under the guidance of the regional Technical team.
- Assisting the Technical/Planning teams in order to support regional Planning applications.
- Ensuring that all information relating to the Technical team is of a high quality in order to minimise risk and facilitate efficient site starts.
Who are we looking for?
In order to be considered you will possess the following:
- 5 GCSE's including Maths and English grade 4 or above (Grade C) or an equivalent.
- A willingness to learn and undertake an agreed qualification alongside the responsibilities listed above.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to build effective working relationships, both internally and externally.
- Competent IT skills with proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
- Strong mathematical and analytical skills.
- Ability to prioritise workload and work to tight deadlines.
- The ability to work in both a team environment as well as independently using your own initiative.
