Due to continued success and future business growth, we have an exciting opportunity for a Graduate Quantity Surveyor to join our team based at our Scotland head office in Edinburgh. Are you a recent Quantity Surveying graduate ready to take your first step on the career ladder?
Joining our Commercial team as a Graduate Quantity Surveyor, you will work closely with our experienced Quantity Surveyors, developing the skills and knowledge needed to succeed in the surveying field while using your degree to underpin your learning and gain valuable on-the-job experience. This is a critical role within the housebuilding industry, responsible for budgeting and managing the cost of building our new homes.
- Processing subcontractor orders, invoice payments and variations using Excel and the Group ERP system - COINS, with the support and guidance of the project Quantity Surveyor.
- Attending developments and assisting the Quantity Surveyor in carrying out bi-monthly valuation process.
- Liaising with sub-contractors in relation to day-to-day queries whilst also assisting the Quantity Surveyor with onsite subcontractor meetings.
- Assisting with preparation of tenders and providing support with the procurement of sub-contractors.
- Assisting the Quantity Surveyor with new site tenders, including preparing subcontractor tender analysis documents and supporting accurate project costings.
- Assisting with basic quantity take-offs and measurement tasks to support cost planning and estimating.
- Managing directly employed weekly payments for subcontractor trades.
- Attending the bi-monthly valuation meetings and assisting the Quantity Surveyor in formulating valuation packs.
- Developing a strong understanding of quantity surveying principles, practices and procedures through on-the-job learning.
A relevant qualification in Quantity Surveying is required, along with competent IT skills with proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
