Avant Arte is a curated marketplace that makes discovering and collecting art radically more accessible for a new generation. Our team of passionate experts collaborate with leading contemporary artists from across the globe to create bespoke limited-edition artworks to browse and collect. We began as a cult blog of contemporary artists and since 2015 we've grown our community to over 3.3 million strong across more than 100 countries.
We’re proud to collaborate with leading contemporary artists to create limited edition works - from sculpture editions and works on paper to NFTs and hand-finished silkscreen prints.
We’re a small team with really big ambitions, both for what we want to achieve and also the environment we’re building. We want to create a company that remains thoughtful as we scale and tries to be genuinely progressive in how we operate. We want people to really own what they do and be given the autonomy and freedom to make mistakes, learn, and create something meaningful.
We all work incredibly hard because we really care about what Avant Arte is here to do – we’re looking for exceptional people who are proactive, hungry to learn, and want to put their pride in our collective achievements. We know that creating an inclusive environment that promotes and values diversity is critical if we want to build something with impact and meaning. We believe that having diversity in age, background, gender identity, race, sexual orientation, physical or mental ability, ethnicity, and perspective will make us an infinitely better company.
The role involves shaping the way people discover and collect art online. This role sits at the intersection of our leading contemporary fine art editions marketplace, our decorative print marketplace and self-publishing print on demand propositions. You’ll have your hands across everything that makes Avant Arte work for both collectors and the artists we partner with.
This isn’t a role where you’ll be siloed in one corner of a product. You’ll work closely with engineering, design, and data teams to bring ideas to life whilst closely partnering with different functional teams to ensure that what we build moves the needle for the business as a whole. You’ll split your time between getting into the details of user flows and technical requirements, as well as zooming out to think about where we should be heading over the months and years ahead.
What you’ll do:
- Act as the translation layer between delivery teams and the business, taking initiatives from idea to shipped feature and co-ordinating design, engineering and data amongst other functions to deliver the best user experiences.
- Ensuring our backlog is thoroughly triaged and prioritised against business objectives before being researched, scoped and planned with clarity.
- Autonomously identify new initiatives and maintain our backlog, looping in who you need when you need in order to keep things moving at pace.
- Take ownership of key product cadences, from sprint planning and delivery to retros and cross-functional workshops, always striving to find the right balance between pace and process.
- Ensure cross-functional alignment and hand-offs throughout delivery of new initiatives, working collaboratively with stakeholders across the business.
- Forming a view on different functions' pain points and opportunities.
- Take a data driven approach to feature scoping, testing and experimentation to make sure we’re always improving where it counts.
- Help scope and iterate on new business initiatives, working nimbly alongside functional teams to iterate and scale new ideas.
- Contribute meaningfully to user research and discovery, helping us understand what collectors and creators need before we build.
- Work with the Head of Product to develop a point of view about where we should invest our time, money and effort, what opportunities should be added to our radar, and how our product can better serve our community of collectors and creators.
You’ll likely:
- Have 5-6 years of experience as a product manager.
- Care about craft and details. You notice when something feels off in a user flow, when copy could be clearer, or when a feature solves the wrong problem.
- Have strong written and verbal communication skills, and you can articulate the "why" behind decisions to both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Thrive in switching from a creative conversation with designers about user experience, to a business conversation with marketing about growth metrics and you can balance both sides of the equation to tease out the best outcome.
- Be comfortable with ambiguity and can bring structure to unclear situations.
- Have a genuine interest in working with creators and artists or in the culture space.
- Appreciate that our artists are partners and you’ll bring that mindset to everything you build.
Don’t meet every single requirement? Avant Arte is dedicated to building a diverse, inclusive and authentic team so we encourage you to apply anyway. You may be just the right candidate for this or other roles.
Benefits include:
- Generous equity allowance.
- Private Healthcare (UK).
- Enhanced pension contributions and parental leave policies.
- 25 days of holiday plus four extra company wide days.
- L&D budget of €1000 per year per employee.
- Regular company socials.
- Art loan scheme for employees.
