Job Description: GIS Analyst – Strategic Infrastructure
Position Overview: Are you a skilled GIS Analyst looking for an opportunity to contribute to the
future of energy transmission? National Grid\’s Strategic Infrastructure team is seeking a talented GIS
Analyst to join our dynamic and innovative projects. As a GIS Analyst, you will play a crucial role in
supporting the development and maintenance of geospatial data and applications for our strategic
infrastructure initiatives. If you have a passion for geospatial technology and want to be part of

Responsibilities:
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to gather requirements and assist in the
development of web maps and apps using ArcGIS Pro, ESRI Enterprise Portal for ArcGIS, and
ArcGIS Online for strategic infrastructure projects.
Collaborate with stakeholders to understand their requirements and provide guidance on
the best approaches for web map and app design.
Stay updated with the latest advancements in GIS technology, including ESRI Enterprise
Portal for ArcGIS and ArcGIS Online.
Assist in the development and maintenance of geospatial databases, ensuring data accuracy,
integrity, and accessibility.
Collaborate with external vendors and contractors to ensure seamless integration of GIS
systems and data.
Utilisation of automated geospatial process technologies (e.g. FME and Python).
Authoring geospatial standards and validating data against those standards.
Qualifications:
Bachelor\’s degree in Geography, GIS, or a related field.
Minimum of 2-3 years of experience working as a GIS analyst on geospatial data
management.
Proficiency in ArcGIS Pro, ESRI Enterprise Portal for ArcGIS, and ArcGIS Online, including the
ability to create web maps and apps.
Strong understanding of cartographic principles and best practices for map design.
Familiarity with spatial data standards, projections, and coordinate systems.
Excellent attention to detail and a commitment to producing high-quality maps.
Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work in a fast-paced, deadline-driven
Good communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with
cross-functional teams.
