This is an exciting opportunity for an English language services specialist to join our Edinburgh office as part of Avaloq's Language Services team. Language Services is Avaloq’s in‑house translation and language review provider and is responsible for terminology management. The role is ideal for an English‑language translator, reviewer or editor and terminologist who will review and translate a wide range of text types and manage the corporate glossary of the Avaloq group. In this position, you will be the gatekeeper of quality and adherence to our terminology, tone of voice and writing style, working closely with our internal clients and external language services providers.
Responsibilities
- Review various text types to ensure correct grammar and spelling, language and style, consistency and coherence, and corporate terminology.
- Translate documents into English, ensuring accurate, consistent and coherent target texts that are delivered on time.
- Maintain and update the corporate glossary.
- Manage translation/review requests, including outsourcing to external language services providers.
Qualifications
- English as a native language.
- Degree in Translation or equivalent qualification.
- Proven track record of translating or editing banking and/or financial content.
- Very good knowledge of at least one additional language (minimum B2/C1 level in German, French, Italian, Japanese and/or Arabic).
- Knowledge of CAT and terminology management tools (memoQ/qTerm, SDL Trados).
- Organized, methodical and reliable person with excellent attention to detail.
Bonus
- Experience working in the Banking sector.
- Knowledge of IT and/or software.
- Familiarity with AI, machine translation and post‑editing.
