As an English Linguist and Localization Specialist, you will review the English user interfaces of several Avaloq products from a UX writing perspective, liaise with development and design teams about localization issues and act as a localization project manager for the products you are responsible for. In this position, you will also be the main point of contact between the product teams and our external language services providers. Ideally, you have solid experience of software localization and are a trained translator who has diversified their skillset to flexibly adapt to the ongoing changes in our sector.
- Manage the English user interface text of several banking applications, editing it to ensure accurate, consistent and user-friendly language and optimising it for translation into a range of other languages.
- Be part of a cross-divisional approach to localization liaising with various stakeholders, for example to identify and resolve issues that prevent the software from being localised for its target markets.
- Manage localization projects in multiple languages, including outsourcing to external language services providers and financials.
- Maintain and manage the Phrase Strings localization platform (licence and user management).
Qualifications
- Excellent knowledge of English (native language).
- Degree in Translation (or equivalent qualification).
- Proven track record of translating or editing banking and/or financial content.
- Experience in software localization, especially source language optimisation.
- Very good knowledge of at least one additional language (minimum B2/C1 level in German, Spanish, French, Italian, Arabic and/or Japanese).
- Good experience in using language technology such as localization platforms (Phrase Strings), CAT tools and AI resources.
- Organised, methodical and reliable person with excellent attention to detail.
It would be a real bonus if you have:
- Experience with the localization platform Phrase Strings.
- A keen interest in UX writing, accessibility, user journeys and interaction design.
- Research skills – knowing what to research and how.
- A basic technical understanding of software development, localization engineering or similar.
