Job Description

This is a wonderful opportunity to join our Edinburgh-based Payments Team as a Business Analyst. You will collaborate with software engineers and business analysts around the world to build high-quality solutions to support our existing and future clients.

You will play an important role in helping our organisation to optimise payment processes, analyse and address customer issues and gather new requirements, while ensuring compliance with industry regulations. You will work closely with cross‑functional teams to develop solutions to meet market demands. Following Agile methodologies, you will also collaborate with product owners and software engineers to design, develop, test and maintain functionality within the team's remit.

  • Evaluating and analysing payment processes to identify areas for improvement and efficiency.
  • Understanding business requirements, translating them into payment solutions and documenting them in our internal tools (JIRA, Confluence, Service Request platform).
  • Designing and building functionalities in collaboration with developers during implementation and testing phases of new features and bug fixes.
  • Staying up-to-date on payment industry regulations and standards.
  • Troubleshooting customer issues and internal requests, providing help resolving issues and answering questions, managing client interaction during testing, overseeing bug fixing and potential change requests.

Qualifications

  • Proven track record working in business analysis, ideally in Payments or Cards industry and Agile environments.
  • Knowledge of payment transaction products (e.g. transfers, direct debits, card processing) with a familiarity with payment industry regulations (e.g. ISO20022, CBPR+, SEPA, PSD2).
  • Logical and analytical approach to problem‑solving.
  • Experience with applications such as JIRA or Confluence.

It would be a real bonus if you have:

  • An inquisitive approach to learning.
  • Experience working as part of a global team with different nationalities and cultures.
  • University degree in Economics, Business, Finance, or alternatively, Computer Science, Engineering or Mathematics.
  • An interest in software development, Banking or Economics.
