About the Role:

Avalon Group is an award-winning social care charity dedicated to enabling people to live fulfilling lives, however they choose. We are seeking an experienced HR Advisor for a fixed term maternity cover for 12 months. Reporting to the Head of People, you will play a key part in the charity’s strategic and cultural journey. The role is based at our Head Office in Harrogate, however we support agile working and there will be opportunities to work from home. There may also be a requirement to travel to our locality offices when necessary so access to a vehicle that can be used for work purposes together with a full valid driving licence is essential due to the location of some of our offices.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide operational HR advice with a strong knowledge of UK employment law, supporting managers with employee relations and case work
  • Act as the go-to person for managers to provide expert advice and support in relation to HR policies and procedures and ensuring they are implemented
  • Work across the full spectrum of HR activities, including recruitment and onboarding
  • Support any of the people team’s activities with a can-do attitude and willingness to roll up sleeves

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Experienced operational HR Advisor with practical, solution-focused advice on general HR and people matters
  • Background in supporting managers with employee relations and case work
  • Ideal: CIPD Level 5 qualified or equivalent (not essential)
