About the Role

We’re looking for an experienced and passionate Advanced Support Worker to join our team in York and play a key role in delivering exceptional, person-centred support.

As an Advanced Support Worker, you’ll be a practice leader within the service, helping to develop and inspire colleagues while continuing to provide outstanding hands‑on support to people with learning disabilities, autism and complex health needs.

  • What You’ll Be Doing
  • Deliver high-quality, person‑centred support that promotes independence, dignity and choice.
  • Support people with learning disabilities, autism, physical disabilities and complex health needs.
  • Lead by example, coaching and mentoring colleagues to build confidence and develop excellent practice.
  • Support new team members through induction and on‑the‑job coaching.
  • Carry out delegated healthcare tasks (following training and competency assessment), including medication administration and other clinical interventions relevant to the service.
  • Work alongside health professionals, families and other agencies to ensure people receive the best possible support.
  • Complete quality audits, observations of practice and competency assessments to help maintain high standards.
  • Support the Service Manager with care planning, documentation and service improvement.
  • Champion safeguarding, positive risk‑taking and person‑centred approaches at all times.

About You

You’ll be an experienced care professional who is passionate about supporting others and developing people around you.

Qualifications and Skills

  • A Level 3 Diploma in Health & Social Care (or equivalent) or be willing to achieve this.
  • At least two years’ experience supporting adults with learning disabilities and/or autism.
  • Experience supporting people with complex health needs.
  • Experience administering medication and following healthcare plans.
  • Excellent communication and organisational skills.
  • Confidence using digital care recording systems.
  • A positive, proactive attitude and the ability to lead through encouragement and example.
  • Experience mentoring colleagues, completing competency assessments or supporting quality improvement activities would be an advantage.
