We are looking for an exceptional International Format Consultant to champion key Avalon formats globally — ensuring each international version is produced to the highest standard, creatively on-brand, on budget and schedule, and consistently excellent. Working closely with our UK teams, you’ll be a key creative, strategic and production partner for broadcasters and producers around the world.
Avalon’s dedicated Distribution arm licenses programmes and formats to global markets. With over 4,000 episodes of programming in its catalogue, and content sold into over 150 countries worldwide, we have extensive distribution expertise across a range of genres including comedy, entertainment, dramedy and factual.
Key Responsibilities- Act as the international point of contact and consultancy lead for Taskmaster and other key Avalon formats.
- Work across international productions of Avalon’s formats, advising on how to adapt and localise for each market, including adapting the format to fit local tastes, budgets, schedules and transmissions patterns.
- Act as production lead on behalf of Avalon, across international formats in territories where Avalon is the Production Company of that format, working with local broadcasters and production companies to deliver hit shows, on time and on budget – creating and advising on budgets and schedules, alongside editorial.
- Support local producers with creative problem-solving, ensuring the integrity of the format is maintained in all adaptations.
- Responsible for setting up and delivering creative exchanges and workshops, sharing production expertise, best practice, ideas and inspiration across international formats and productions, including supporting new show launches.
- Represent the format at creative summits, and key broadcaster, production and industry meetings.
- Lead on opportunities for brand extensions and spin-off series, working alongside Avalon creatives, key stakeholders and Distribution to maximise opportunities for new series.
- Building talent and buyer relationships in local markets with a view to licensing original content in territories outside of US/UK.
- Be a trusted and authoritative voice, able to make firm decisions in the best interests of the format and bring stakeholders with you.
- Be the main point of contact with international broadcasters and production companies producing Avalon’s formats, to be across all aspects of international productions, including production schedules, budgets, casting, task development, filming, marketing, PR, series delivery, and ratings.
- Work to Director of Production, UK on Avalon International Productions, assisting with the broadcaster and local production service deals and specifically work on creation of budgets, schedules, talent deals and options, and cost reporting.
- Regular and extensive international travel to provide in person (in all major territories globally) and remote consultancy to international production teams, across Taskmaster and all of Avalon’s key formats, working on the ground with local production teams through pre-production, filming and post-production.
- Actively managing international productions remotely through to delivery and TX.
- Create and regularly maintain detailed Format Bibles, covering all aspects of the format and production, to ensure that all key production information, from all territories producing Avalon’s formats, including Taskmaster, can be easily and effectively shared with international production teams.
- Maintain, update and advise on the Taskmaster International Task Database to share with international production teams – working closely with international teams to collate task information and share around the group.
- Create, maintain and update a Taskmaster Consultancy Bible, covering all key elements of Taskmaster consultancy, identifying standout moments and best in class clips from international versions to demonstrate each consultancy point, used to deliver consultancy to international production teams.
- Work with international broadcasters and producers to adapt the format for different budgets, transmission patterns and schedules, ensuring that the DNA of Taskmaster remains intact, whilst successfully localising for international markets.
- Review casting ideas, tasks, scripts, rough cuts, and studio records from international versions, providing creative and editorial feedback that drives quality and consistency.
- Advise on all elements of production, including set design, story development, and show pacing.
- Manage international productions to ensure that production teams deliver successful series, adhering to Avalon’s production standards and remaining true to the brand.
- Creative Renewal – leading on how to keep Taskmaster and Avalon’s formats fresh over multiple series and format iterations, whilst protecting the show’s core DNA.
- Be responsible for the organisation and execution of all Taskmaster international production gatherings, including creative exchanges, workshops and meetings, including event planning, editorial content, materials (clips, brochures, event handouts) and successful delivery of the event. Liaising with internal Avalon departments and all international participants.
- Proven experience in international formats from editorial or production side.
- Deep understanding of how to create and adapt local budgets and schedules.
- Proven track record negotiating deals (e.g.; talent or production deals).
- Strong international production experience, with a track record of working on high profile and successful formats across multiple territories.
- A deep understanding of the international format landscape, including what makes an international format successful, adaptable, with the potential to be long running.
- Emotionally intelligent and collaborative — able to give creative feedback that inspires and supports teams.
- Confident decision-maker, balancing creative ambition with practical delivery.
- Experience at working at a senior level - the role requires working alongside our broadcaster and production company partners internationally.
- Organised and detail-focused, with the ability to juggle multiple projects, deadlines, events and relationships.
- Respected by peers and partners, able to lead creative conversations and influence at senior levels.
