About the Role
We are seeking a Senior Director, AI Governance & Enablement to lead Avalere Health's approach to responsible AI adoption and enterprise AI governance.
This role will be responsible for establishing and evolving the governance frameworks, policies, and operating models that enable AI to scale safely, effectively, and responsibly across the organisation.
Working at the intersection of technology, data, security, compliance and business operations, the successful candidate will help ensure that governance becomes a catalyst for innovation rather than a barrier to progress.
The role will provide strategic leadership across AI governance, regulatory readiness, risk management and organisational enablement, supporting both internal transformation initiatives and client‑facing AI solutions.
As AI becomes increasingly embedded across our services, products and operations, this individual will play a critical role in helping Avalere Health maintain trust, transparency and accountability while accelerating adoption and unlocking value.
The role will work closely with Information Security, Legal, Compliance, Technology, Data and Commercial leadership teams, while supporting the broader objectives of the Co‑Intelligence Centre.
What You'll Do
- Lead the design and evolution of Avalere Health’s enterprise AI governance framework, ensuring AI is deployed responsibly across operations, products and client work.
- Establish scalable, practical governance standards that balance innovation, risk management and business value.
- Translate global AI regulatory developments into clear, actionable guidance for business and delivery teams.
- Partner closely with Legal, Compliance, Information Security, Technology and Data leaders to align governance with organisational risk appetite.
- Support ISO/IEC 42001 readiness, AI assurance activities and continuous governance improvement.
- Act as a trusted advisor on AI‑related risk, transparency, intellectual property and data rights.
- Enable teams through guidance, frameworks, toolkits and AI literacy initiatives.
- Support client engagements, proposals and RFPs where AI governance, trust and assurance are critical.
About You
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent professional experience in Business, Technology, Information Governance, Data, Risk Management, Law or a related field.
- Significant experience leading governance, risk, compliance, AI governance, data governance or technology governance functions.
- Experience designing and implementing governance frameworks within complex organisations.
- Strong understanding of emerging AI regulation, responsible AI principles and technology risk management.
- Experience working across multiple stakeholder groups including technology, security, legal, operational and executive leadership teams.
- Strong communication and influencing skills, with the ability to translate complex concepts into practical business guidance.
- Demonstrated ability to balance governance requirements with commercial objectives and organisational agility.
Desirable Experience
- Experience establishing or leading AI governance, Responsible AI or technology risk programmes.
- Knowledge of governance frameworks such as ISO 42001, NIST AI Risk Management Framework, ISO 27001, GDPR, EU AI Act or equivalent standards.
- Experience operating within healthcare, life sciences, consulting, agency or highly regulated environments.
- Experience supporting client‑facing governance, assurance or regulatory discussions.
- Experience leading governance councils, steering committees or cross‑functional decision‑making forums.
