Senior Strategist at Avalere Health plays a pivotal role in defining and advancing brand strategy for healthcare clients, leading key strategic workstreams from discover through activation.

Combining deep analytical thinking, commercial understanding, creativity and scientific curiosity, they transform complex research, behavioural insight, cultural context and market intelligence into compelling strategic recommendations that inspire clients and creative teams alike.

As part of a multidisciplinary team, the Senior Strategist contributes to the development of brand positioning, messaging, creative strategy, and omnichannel experiences.

This role is suited to an individual who is curious, articulate, and energized by solving complex healthcare challenges with simplicity and insight.

About the role

Operating with significant autonomy, the Senior Strategist owns substantial components of strategic programmes, guiding multidisciplinary teams through ambiguity while ensuring strategic rigour and creative excellence.

They elevate the quality of strategic thinking across projects, and contribute meaningfully to agency growth through thought leadership, innovation and new business support.

They are recognised as a trusted strategic partner internally and increasingly by clients, bringing confidence, clarity and perspective to complex healthcare challenges.

What you'll do

  • Lead the development of brand positioning, value propositions, messaging architectures, brand narratives and experience strategies.
  • Develop strategic frameworks that help clients make confident commercial and brand decisions.
  • Translate complex scientific and commercial information into clear strategic direction.
  • Identify unmet needs, customer tensions and growth opportunities across the customer journey.
  • Direct competitive audits, landscape assessments and cultural analyses.
  • Partner with creative teams to deliver insight-led campaigns.
  • Create inspiring briefs and guide creative development.
  • Build trusted client relationships and lead strategic discussions.
  • Present recommendations with confidence and impact.
  • Foster collaboration across client service, medical, creative, engagement and analytics teams.
  • Guide junior strategists through research, synthesis, storytelling and presentation development.
  • Contribute to new business pitches and growth initiatives.
  • Identify opportunities to improve strategic processes and capability.

About you

  • 4–6 years’ experience in healthcare brand and omnichannel strategy.
  • Proven ability to lead strategic projects independently.
  • Strong understanding of healthcare brands, customer experience and omnichannel engagement.
  • Skilled in analysing and interpreting qualitative and quantitative research.
  • Excellent storytelling, presentation and communication skills.
  • Experience facilitating workshops and leading strategic discussions.
  • Strong commercial acumen and client relationship management skills.
  • Degree in Life Sciences, Psychology, Marketing, Business or a related field.
  • Strong scientific foundation with the ability to interpret clinical data.
  • Postgraduate qualification desirable.
