Responsibilities
- Operate lorries in a safe and responsible manner, adhering to all traffic laws and regulations.
- Transport goods to designated locations, ensuring timely delivery while maintaining the integrity of the cargo.
- Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections of the vehicle to ensure it is in good working condition.
- Secure loads appropriately on lorries to prevent damage during transit.
- Maintain accurate records of deliveries, including logs of mileage, fuel usage, and any incidents that may occur.
- Communicate effectively with dispatchers and customers regarding delivery schedules and any potential delays.
- Assist with loading and unloading cargo as necessary, ensuring compliance with safety protocols.
Skills
- Proven experience in commercial driving, particularly with curtain lorries.
- Strong knowledge of road safety regulations and best practices for delivery drivers.
- Excellent navigation skills and familiarity with local routes.
- Ability to perform basic vehicle maintenance and troubleshoot minor issues.
- Strong communication skills for effective interaction with team members and clients.
- A valid commercial driving licence (C+E) is essential for this role.
