About the Role
Location: London, United Kingdom
Hours: Full-time (37.5hrs)
Contract: Permanent
Salary: £75,000 p.a.
What you’ll do
- AI-First Innovation & Automation: Lead implementation of AI capabilities across learner delivery, support, marking, content production, and internal workflows. Build and deploy practical AI use cases (LLM integrations, automation, copilots, workflow tools). Identify high-impact automation opportunities that improve efficiency, learner outcomes, or commercial performance. Enable rapid experimentation and safe deployment of AI-powered solutions.
- Platform & Ecosystem Delivery: Deliver and evolve Avado's learning technology ecosystem. Improve integration reliability between LMS, CRM (HubSpot), and internal systems. Simplify data architecture and reduce duplication. Modernise where needed — without destabilising core systems.
- HubSpot, Data & Lifecycle Automation: Act as HubSpot technical owner. Improve data integrity and ownership boundaries. Strengthen automation across marketing, sales, and learner delivery. Embed AI where appropriate within CRM workflows.
- Hands-On Technical Leadership: Architect integrations and APIs. Debug production issues. Contribute code during critical delivery phases and when supporting the team directly — this is not a daily coding role. Strengthen DevOps, release management, and system monitoring. Improve delivery velocity without compromising stability.
- Cloud, Infrastructure & Security: Oversee AWS-based infrastructure (or relevant cloud platforms). Ensure systems are resilient, secure, and cost-effective. Support ISO 27001 compliance and governance processes. Strengthen incident and change management practices.
- Team Leadership: Lead and develop a team of 5 direct reports. Set engineering standards and delivery expectations. Build a culture where people take clear ownership of outcomes and operate with a pragmatic, problem-solving mindset. Build capability in AI tooling and modern development practices.
Who you are
You are a senior technical leader who still enjoys building. Comfortable operating in a small, fast-paced company. AI-curious and proactive in experimentation. Commercially aware — you understand that technology must move revenue and efficiency. Strong at simplifying complexity. Comfortable engaging directly with senior leadership.
Experience & qualifications
Essential Experience:
- 5+ years in technical roles, with at least 1 year leading a team.
- Hands-on technical leadership experience at a senior level.
- Strong cloud and integration knowledge (AWS preferred).
- HubSpot ownership experience — automation, workflows, and integrations. This is a core requirement.
- Experience evolving LMS, SaaS platforms, or content delivery ecosystems (EdTech experience is a strong advantage).
- Practical experience deploying AI solutions in production environments.
- Experience leading small multidisciplinary engineering teams.
- Solid understanding of operational reliability and security practices.
Desirable:
- ISO 27001 exposure.
- AI / ML integration experience beyond standard LLM integrations.
- AWS certification or equivalent.
