Avaaz is looking for a Senior Campaigner to join us in pushing back against the rise of the far-right in Germany and inspiring millions of people with the vision of a more just, democratic, and livable future.

Area of ResponsibilityThis is a full-time position in Germany, anchored in the heart of Avaaz's global movement. The Senior Campaigner will lead campaigning, communication, and advocacy measures, focusing on our campaigns in Germany in the fight against the far-right and for a diverse, democratic future. This role requires excellent strategic communication skills, a strong network in politics and civil society, as well as expertise in social media and media.
Your Responsibilities- Develop and implement effective campaigns: Design strategies, develop clear messages and compelling narratives that mobilize people and achieve political impact.
- Shape digital narratives: Disseminate campaigns via social media, creators, and digital communities, help shape public debates, and convert reach into mobilization.
- Advocacy work with decision-makers: Build and utilize relationships with parliamentarians, government representatives, parties, and opinion leaders to help shape political decisions and public debates.
- Strengthen civil society alliances: Collaborate with partner organizations as well as public figures from musicians to actors to build joint momentum and amplify campaigns.
- Manage media and public relations: Develop media strategies, maintain contact with journalists, write press releases and speeches, and organize public actions.
- Drive digital mobilization: Develop digital campaigns, write content with high reach for the Avaaz community, and utilize online dynamics to reach and activate people.
- Accompany events and delegations: Help design and effectively publicize high-profile events, visits, and tours from conception to implementation.
- International collaboration: Work closely with the German and global Avaaz teams to effectively align strategies, campaigns, and messages.
- Campaigning experience: Previous experience in political campaigning, strategic communication, advocacy, or related fields in Germany or Europe.
- Digital reach: A feel for social media, digital narratives, and public debates, as well as the ability to convert attention into mobilization.
- Strong networks: Contacts in politics, media, and civil society or the ability to quickly build such contacts.
- Powerful storytelling: Translate complex topics into clear, persuasive, and action-oriented messages.
- Media competence: Experience in media work and/or as a spokesperson, with success in collaboration with German media.
- Building alliances: Experience in building networks, coalitions, and strategic partnerships.
- Designing events: Experience in the conception and implementation of high-profile events, visits, or campaign tours.
- Resilience and self-management: Self-initiative and the ability to deliver excellent work even under pressure, effective priority management.
- Team spirit: High professionalism and enjoyment of working in an international, dynamic environment.
- Language skills: Fluent German and English, both written and spoken.

LocationAvaaz is a global organization, with most of our work done remotely. Our staff are based all over the world. For this position, we are looking for candidates residing in Germany (preferably Berlin, where you would also have some colleagues), but other cities or locations can be considered.
CompensationThis is an independent contractor role with a monthly compensation range of 6,000 - 6,500 EUR. The monthly pay varies with location and experience, and is highly competitive with leading international non-profit organisations. An accurate range in local currency will be provided to candidates in other locations during the screen call.
