Responsible Individual – Children\’s Residential Homes

Location: Remote, with regular travel across Essex and neighbouring counties
Salary: £50,000 – £65,000 per annum (including performance bonus)
Contract: Full-time, Permanent
Hours: Monday to Friday

We are seeking an experienced Responsible Individual and Social Care Consultant to provide strategic leadership, guidance, and regulatory oversight across multiple Ofsted-registered children\’s residential homes in Essex and surrounding counties. This senior leadership role offers the opportunity to drive improvement, raise care standards, and support Registered Managers in delivering safe, high-quality services for children and young people.

As the Responsible Individual, you will ensure operational excellence, regulatory compliance, and robust safeguarding across several children\’s homes, creating nurturing environments where young people can achieve positive, meaningful outcomes.

Key Responsibilities

• Ensure full compliance with Ofsted requirements, Children\’s Homes Regulations 2015, and national Quality Standards.
• Provide expert consultancy, mentoring, and support to Registered Managers to enhance performance and improve outcomes.
• Lead on safeguarding, embedding a culture of accountability, transparency, and safe practice.
• Prepare children\’s homes for Ofsted inspections, driving consistent \’Good\’ or \’Outstanding\’ ratings.
• Offer guidance on staffing, budgets, resource planning, and day-to-day operational management.
• Build strong partnerships with local authorities, social workers, and regulatory bodies.
• Drive learning, development, and performance initiatives across residential teams.
• Promote continuous improvement, reflective practice, and high standards across all services.

About You

• Minimum 3 years\’ senior leadership or consultancy experience in children\’s residential care.
• NVQ Level 5 Diploma in Leadership & Management for Residential Childcare (or equivalent/working towards).
• Strong knowledge of safeguarding legislation, Ofsted inspection frameworks, and regulatory expectations.
• Proven ability to lead multiple services, improve outcomes, and implement best practice across residential homes.
• Excellent communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills.
• Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel across Greater London and neighbouring counties.
• Passionate about delivering the highest standards of care for children and young people.
