The Role:
Working days only, the successful candidate will carry out full servicing, maintenance and repair of HGV units within a busy fleet environment managing 80 trucks and 120 trailers.
Responsibilities:
- Carry out full servicing, maintenance and repair of HGV units within a busy fleet environment
- Routine servicing, inspections and general mechanical upkeep of Volvo and Scania vehicles
- Diagnose and repair diesel engines, gearboxes, clutches and driveline systems
- Work on air brake systems, ABS/EBS, discs and complete braking diagnostics
- Use manufacturer software (Volvo Tech Tool, Scania SDP3) for fault codes and diagnostics
- Service and repair trailers including brake systems, axles, suspension and lighting
- Carry out PMIs, MOT preparation and ensure vehicles meet UK roadworthiness standards
- Balance planned maintenance with fast response to breakdowns to minimise fleet downtime
Entry Requirements:
- City & Guilds, NVQ or BTEC Level 3 in Heavy Vehicle Engineering or equivalent qualification
- 3+ years as an HGV Mechanic working within a commercial fleet environment
- Experience working on Volvo and Scania vehicles ideally
- Proven experience with diesel engines, gearboxes, clutches and driveline systems
- Knowledge of air brake systems, ABS/EBS and braking diagnostics
- Familiarity with manufacturer diagnostic software such as Volvo Tech Tool or Scania SDP3 ideally
- Understanding of MOT requirements and UK roadworthiness standards
