Overview
We are seeking a highly experienced VCF Infrastructure Engineer to support an end-to-end VMware Cloud Foundation (VCF 9) implementation for a tier 1, global enterprise. This is a strategic, long-term engagement as part of a global infrastructure transformation programme. The role requires deep hands-on expertise across the VMware cloud infrastructure stack, alongside automation and configuration capabilities using Python and Ansible.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver an end-to-end VCF implementation, from design through build, migration, and operational handover
- Engineer and support core VMware Cloud Foundation components, including: (vSphere, vSAN, NSX, SDDC Manager)
- Support migration from legacy VMware estates into VCF
- Use Ansible and Python to support Infrastructure automation, Configuration management, Repeatable deployment and operational tasks
- Work closely with architecture, platform, security, and operations teams
- Troubleshoot complex issues across compute, storage, and networking layers
- Ensure solutions meet security, resilience, and compliance standards
- Produce and maintain high-quality technical documentation
- Support knowledge transfer and BAU transition activities
Required Experience
- Strong hands-on experience as a VMware / Cloud Infrastructure Engineer
- Direct experience with VMware Cloud Foundation (VCF) (VCF 9 preferred but not essential) OR deep experience across the traditional VMware stack: (vSphere, NSX (T / V), vSAN)
- Practical experience using Ansible for infrastructure automation
- Working knowledge of Python for scripting and automation tasks
- Experience delivering infrastructure within large-scale enterprise environments
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
- Comfortable working on complex, multi-year transformation programmes
- Strong communication skills in a stakeholder-heavy environment
Desirable Experience
- Automation of VMware environments using Ansible modules / APIs / Aria
- Experience upgrading or modernising large VMware estates
- Exposure to private or hybrid cloud operating models
- Familiarity with infrastructure-as-code or platform lifecycle automation
