Are you an experienced Maintenance Team Leader looking to join a food manufacturing company based in Accrington? Ideally, you have experience managing a team of engineers and will have worked within a fast-paced manufacturing environment such as food or FMCG. You will play a key part in minimising downtime, supporting continuous improvement, and ensuring a safe and efficient working environment.
We are looking for a Team Leader with a proven track record in FMCG or Food Manufacturing to head up our shift engineering team. This isn't just a desk job; currently, 70% of the role is hands-on with the remaining 30% being office-based. It's a role for a proactive leader who knows how to keep high-speed lines running while developing a talented team.
We are looking for at least 2 years of experience managing engineers within a Food or FMCG environment. You understand the pressure of 'line down' situations and have knowledge of food safety standards. You know how to motivate a shift team, manage handovers, and handle performance with a fair, consistent approach.
Team Leaders will have a multi-skilled background (Electrical/Mechanical) with a solid understanding of high-speed packaging machinery, conveyors, and food-grade compliance. Experience of 'root cause' analysis to prevent repeat failures.
Daily Duties:
- Perform planned, preventative and reactive maintenance across the site.
- Deploy jobs to engineers to get the best out of the team.
- Quickly diagnose faults and implement effective solutions to minimise downtime.
- Collaborate with the engineering team to drive improvements that enhance machine performance and reliability.
- Ensure compliance with health, safety, and food safety standards at all times.
- Accurately document all maintenance work and ensure records are kept up to date.
- Provide support for capital projects, new installations, and equipment upgrades as required.
Ideal Candidate:
- NVQ Level 3 or equivalent - ideally apprentice trained.
- Experience with electrical & mechanical maintenance - FMCG/food manufacturing.
- Flexible, team-oriented, and able to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
