This role is suited to someone who enjoys building relationships and winning new opportunities, but also understands the importance of nurturing and expanding existing public sector accounts. It’s not a pure hunter role, equally, it’s not a passive account management position. You’ll be expected to generate and convert your own pipeline, while managing a defined portfolio of public sector customers.
Responsibilities
- Develop and grow relationships across UK public sector organisations (health, transport, local and central government)
- Identify new opportunities within existing accounts and through new logo activity
- Work with frameworks, tenders and regulated procurement processes
- Own opportunities end-to-end, from early engagement through to contract close
- Collaborate closely with delivery, technical and marketing teams to support long-term partnerships
Qualifications
- Has experience selling or account managing within the UK public sector
- Enjoys business development and is comfortable creating opportunities, not just servicing them
- Has worked in a relationship-led, complex sales environment (technology, telecoms, infrastructure, SaaS, managed services, etc.)
- Understands public sector procurement and multi-stakeholder decision making
- Is commercially curious, proactive and keen to grow into a more senior role over time
Why this role
- Genuine scope to increase your business development exposure
- Uncapped commission with clear earning potential
- Flat structure, high autonomy and strong internal support
- Opportunity to develop into a senior Client Relationship Manager role as the team grows
- Work in an organisation that values long-term relationships over short-term wins
If you’re currently weighted more towards account management but want more ownership of growth, or you enjoy new business but still value long-term client relationships, this role offers the balance.
