We are currently recruiting for an experienced Freelance Site Manager to oversee a Shell & Core / CAT A refit project in Thurrock. This is an excellent opportunity to join an existing site team, on a project within a live retail setting, managing the delivery of works within an existing retail unit.
Working as part of a wider project team, and reporting to an on‑site Project Manager, you will be responsible for taking ownership of the site on a day‑to‑day basis, ensuring that all works are delivered safely, on programme, and to the highest quality standards. The role will involve:
- Overseeing day-to-day site operations
- Managing subcontractors and site logistics
- Driving programme delivery to meet project deadlines
- Ensuring all works are completed safely and to a high standard
- Maintaining strong health & safety compliance across site
- Liaising with clients and project teams
- Monitoring quality control throughout the Shell & Core and fit‑out phases
Requirements:
- Previous experience delivering Shell & Core and retail fit-out projects
- Strong knowledge of site management and health & safety procedures
- Ability to manage subcontractors and coordinate multiple trades
- SMSTS, CSCS, and First Aid certifications preferred
- Strong communication and organisational skills
