Autumnal Partners is conducting a confidential search on behalf of a high-growth, technology-driven financial services organisation seeking an experienced Financial Controller to join its London-based finance leadership team. This is a rare opportunity to combine strong technical accounting expertise with finance transformation, automation, and AI-enabled process improvement.
Reporting into a senior finance leader, you will take ownership of the financial control environment across a complex international group structure. You will lead month-end close, statutory reporting, audits, and financial governance while helping build a more scalable, automated, and data-driven finance function.

Key Responsibilities:- Own and enhance the financial control framework across multiple legal entities.
- Lead month-end close, management reporting, and financial reporting processes.
- Prepare and review statutory accounts across multiple jurisdictions.
- Manage the external audit process end-to-end.
- Develop and mentor a small finance team.
- Oversee core finance operations, including banking, payments, AP, and bookkeeping controls.
- Drive automation and process improvement initiatives across finance workflows.
- Leverage modern technologies, including AI and workflow tools, to improve efficiency and reporting quality.
- Act as a trusted deputy to senior finance leadership and provide constructive challenge where required.
You will be qualified ACA, ACCA, or CIMA qualified (likely c7-12 years PQE) with:
- Strong background in financial control, statutory reporting, audit, and technical accounting.
- Experience managing multi-entity and/or international reporting structures.
- Proven people leadership experience within a finance team.
- Track record of delivering finance transformation, process improvement, or systems projects.
- Comfortable using technology, automation tools, Power Query, AI applications, and modern finance systems.
- Strong attention to detail coupled with excellent stakeholder management skills.
