Group Financial Controller (Financial Services)

Autumnal Partners are leading the search for a Group Financial Controller on behalf of a growing boutique investment bank. This is a newly created, senior-level role offering significant scope and visibility across the business. Role Overview: The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of group financial reporting, controls, and regulatory compliance, while managing a small team and supporting the CFO on strategic financial matters. This is a broad, hands-on role ideally suited to a technically strong finance professional with experience in a regulated investment banking or broker-dealer environment. Key Responsibilities: Lead the preparation of consolidated financial statements, management accounts, and board reporting. Maintain a robust financial control environment and ensure compliance with accounting standards and regulatory requirements. Oversee all regulatory reporting (e.g., FCA returns), working closely with compliance and legal functions. Manage the audit process and maintain effective relationships with external auditors and advisers. Continuously enhance finance systems, processes, and internal controls to support the group’s growth. Support the CFO with capital planning, liquidity oversight, and strategic financial modelling. Lead, mentor, and develop a small, high-performing finance team across group entities Candidate Profile Fully qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA or equivalent) with at least 7–10 years of post-qualified experience. Experience within an investment bank, broker-dealer, or similar regulated financial services environment is essential. Strong technical knowledge of relevant IFRS reporting standards (eg. IFRS 9) and group consolidation. Proven leadership experience with the ability to manage a small team in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial setting. Commercially astute with strong communication skills and a hands-on approach.
