Autumnal Partners has been exclusively retained to support an established, London-based hedge fund investment specialist with a multi-decade track record in fund-of-hedge-funds investing. They are looking for an experienced Interim Financial Controller to cover a 12-month maternity leave, taking primary responsibility for corporate-level financial reporting across statutory accounts, management reporting, budgeting/forecasting and regulatory filings. This is a corporate-side FC role — familiarity with fund structures is a plus, but the focus is on the business itself rather than fund/NAV accounting.
Role Responsibilities:
- Producing timely, accurate monthly management accounts and board reporting packs
- Preparing statutory financial statements and taking primary responsibility for the annual UK audit
- Owning budgeting, forecasting and variance analysis, with formal monthly reporting to the CFO
- Driving automation and improvement of internal reporting processes (Power BI, Excel Power Query)
- Overseeing fund audits and ensuring fund financial statements are IFRS-compliant (not NAV-related)
- Liaising with external tax advisors on corporate tax compliance, and supporting FCA/Companies House regulatory reporting
- Partnering with investment research, legal, fund admin and marketing teams to provide financial insight
What we're looking for:
- Qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent)
- 5+ years' PQE, within asset management or a related financial services environment
- A strong track record in corporate reporting, management accounts and statutory accounts preparation
- Confident with financial systems and reporting tools — ideally with experience in Power BI, advanced Excel essential, Python a plus
- A proactive, hands-on mindset with excellent communication and stakeholder skills
- Available for a 12-month interim assignment and eligible to work in the UK
