Autumnal Partners are leading the search for a Group Financial Controller on behalf of a growing boutique investment bank. This is a newly created, senior-level role offering significant scope and visibility across the business.

Role Overview: The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of group financial reporting, controls, and regulatory compliance, while managing a small team and supporting the CFO on strategic financial matters. This is a broad, hands-on role ideally suited to a technically strong finance professional with experience in a regulated investment banking or broker-dealer environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the preparation of consolidated financial statements, management accounts, and board reporting.
  • Maintain a robust financial control environment and ensure compliance with accounting standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Oversee all regulatory reporting (e.g., FCA returns), working closely with compliance and legal functions.
  • Manage the audit process and maintain effective relationships with external auditors and advisers.
  • Continuously enhance finance systems, processes, and internal controls to support the group’s growth.
  • Support the CFO with capital planning, liquidity oversight, and strategic financial modelling.
  • Lead, mentor, and develop a small, high-performing finance team across group entities.

Candidate Profile: Fully qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA or equivalent) with at least 7–10 years of post-qualified experience. Experience within an investment bank, broker-dealer, or similar regulated financial services environment is essential. Strong technical knowledge of relevant IFRS reporting standards (e.g. IFRS 9) and group consolidation. Proven leadership experience with the ability to manage a small team in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial setting. Commercially astute with strong communication skills and a hands-on approach.
