The Role
We're currently looking to recruit an experienced Resident Quality Engineer for an exciting opportunity based in the Chichester area of West Sussex. As a key member of the team, you will provide rapid on-site support when harness-related issues arise within the production area. You will attend the point of concern on the production line, assess and define problems in collaboration with production and quality teams, and organise and carry out inspection activities to support effective root-cause identification.
Where possible, you will perform practical rework and repair activities to minimise production disruption, including:
- Connector replacement
- Breakout position correction
- Taping of redundant connectors
- Harness clip relocation
- Connector re-pinning
You will be responsible for documenting actions taken using standardised reporting processes, ensuring clear communication of issues and resolutions to all relevant stakeholders. In addition, you will manage on-site materials at the customer location, ensuring only approved stock is accessible to the production line and maintaining effective control of non-conforming materials.
Applicants should have previous experience in a similar role within the automotive industry, be able to communicate at all levels and be familiar with problem solving and 8D methodology.
Working Hours: Monday to Friday (Rotational shifts, i.e. 1 week AM shifts followed by 1 week PM shifts. AM - 06:00-14:30 PM - 15:20-23:50)

Requirements:
- Able to read wiring diagrams
- Able to perform all types of harness and connector rectification processes (pin out, overlays, connector changes)
- Excellent communication skills
- Knowledge of automotive OEM & Tier 1 Electrical Distribution Systems (EDS)
- Ability to work on initiative and collaborate well with colleagues
- Strong understanding of electrical schematics, connectors, and diagnostic tools
- Methodical approach to problem solving of electrical issues
- Excellent attention to detail and commitment to high build quality and safety
