We are seeking a Senior Manufacturing Engineer to join a niche SME manufacturer of crewed and uncrewed aircrafts, based in Salisbury. The role involves building the Manufacturing Team to develop new products and systems supporting the defence industry.

The Senior Manufacturing Engineer will support R&D projects involving innovative materials, processes, manufacturing systems, and equipment. Experience with NPI, NPD, Industrialisation, or product launch is highly advantageous.

The Senior Manufacturing Engineer Will Be Responsible For

• Implementing manufacturing processes during the R&D phase of new product introduction, including developing manufacturing plans and SOPs.
• Developing and managing BOMs aligned with eBoM releases to track all aircraft components through the product lifecycle.
• Interpreting engineering drawings to create or amend work instructions, identifying necessary processes, tooling, and equipment to meet quality standards.
• Leading NPI processes to facilitate the introduction of new or modified products into production.
• Managing non-conformance issues, conducting root cause analysis, and implementing corrective actions.
• Driving change management, planning, developing, and executing engineering changes, and leading continuous improvement initiatives.
• Identifying new equipment needs and submitting CAPEX requests.
• Creating production plans and shop layouts for new projects or requirements.
• Managing technical issues related to manufacturing processes, equipment, and materials.

Required Skills and Experience

• Strong background in Manufacturing Engineering or as a Lead Technician, preferably in aerospace or high-performance engineering.
• Experience with NPI, NPD, Product Launch, or Industrialisation.
• Proficiency in managing BOMs (eBoM to mBoM).
• Ability to create work instructions from engineering data.
• Competence in CAD and PLM platforms.
• Experience with APQP & PFMEA in NPI processes.
• Continuous Improvement expertise, with knowledge of Six Sigma, 8D, etc.

Applicants must be able to support security clearances (SC) and be willing to travel nationally and internationally. Excellent communication, teamwork, and problem-solving skills are essential.
