This is the job

As a key member of the AA Driving School Academy team, you\\’ll be at the heart of helping future driving instructors launch their careers. In this dynamic Account Manager role, you’ll guide trainees from their very first enquiry all the way to becoming franchisees under a trainee licence with the AA Driving School.

It’s a role that blends sales, service, and support you’ll be the go to person for trainees, building strong relationships and keeping them motivated throughout their journey. Your success will be measured by how many trainees you help convert onto a trainee licence franchise, but just as importantly, by the quality of service and engagement you deliver along the way.

If you’re passionate about people, thrive in a fast-paced environment, and love seeing others succeed, this is the job for you.

What will I be doing?

As an Account Manager in the AA Driving School Academy, you’ll play a vital role in helping trainee driving instructors take the leap from training to becoming franchisees. Here’s what your day-to-day will look like:

  • Driving Franchise Conversion
You’ll work towards weekly, monthly, and quarterly targets by supporting trainees to successfully transition onto a trainee licence franchise with the AA Driving School
  • Tracking Trainee Progress
You’ll be the main point of contact for trainees, keeping a close eye on their progress against the course syllabus and timelines to ensure they stay on track
  • Mentoring and Support
Through 1:1 and group sessions—via phone, online meetings, and email—you’ll provide both educational and pastoral support. You’ll also identify and act on any issues where trainees may need extra help
  • Collaborating Across Teams
You’ll work closely with the Trainee Services Team, Training & Development Team, and other Driving School teams to deliver a seamless and proactive customer experience
  • Delivering Customer Success
Every interaction counts. You’ll build strong relationships and deliver a first-class service that supports long-term franchise conversion and reflects our customer success values

What do I need?

  • At least 5 years’ experience as a commercial Account Manager in a B2B or B2C environment, with a strong background in service, sales, or project management
  • Experience in a training environment, especially online or remote learning, or within a franchise business model is a big plus
  • A proven track record of hitting targets and delivering results
  • Confidence in managing the entire customer journey—from first contact to long-term engagement
  • Ideally, experience in a fast-paced, high-performing environment
  • Strong communication skills, with a background in customer service
  • Sales experience is highly desirable, especially if you’ve had formal training in sales techniques
  • As this is a new and evolving role, you’ll need to be comfortable with ambiguity and change. Experience in a start-up or high-growth business would be a real advantage—we’re counting on you to help shape and grow this role

Personal Qualities

  • Excellent interpersonal and written communication skills
  • Quick-thinking and able to offer creative solutions to support trainee progression
  • Assertive, with a positive and resilient mindset
  • A strong sense of determination to achieve the best outcomes for both the business and our customers

A truly customer-centric approach, you care about people and their success
