Due to continued growth, they are seeking a Lead Control Systems Engineer to play a key role in the delivery of automation projects from concept through to commissioning.

Lead Control Systems Engineer - The Role:

This is primarily a technical engineering position, with approximately 80% of your time focused on the design, development and implementation of control systems, and 20% dedicated to project leadership, customer engagement and mentoring junior engineers. You will take technical ownership of projects, ensuring solutions are delivered to the highest standards whilst acting as the lead engineer throughout the project lifecycle.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Leading the design and development of PLC, HMI and SCADA control systems
  • Programming and configuring control systems using Siemens TIA Portal and/or Rockwell Automation platforms
  • Developing SCADA applications, ideally using Wonderware InTouch, System Platform or similar packages
  • Producing functional design specifications (FDS), software design specifications and technical documentation
  • Supporting electrical design activities and integration with control systems hardware
  • Managing the technical delivery of projects from concept through FAT, SAT and commissioning, including acting as the primary technical point of contact for customers throughout project execution
  • Providing technical guidance and mentoring to junior and intermediate engineers
  • Carrying out site commissioning, testing and customer acceptance activities

Lead Control Systems Engineer - The Person:

We are looking for an experienced controls engineer who enjoys remaining technically hands-on whilst taking ownership of project delivery and supporting the development of others. You will ideally possess:

  • HNC, HND or Degree qualification in Electrical, Electronic, Automation or Control Engineering
  • Proven experience designing and developing PLC, HMI and SCADA systems within an industrial automation environment
  • Strong programming capability with Siemens TIA Portal and/or Rockwell Automation platforms
  • Experience leading projects or acting as senior/lead engineer on automation projects
  • Good understanding of industrial electrical systems including 24VDC, 230VAC and 415VAC control panels
  • Strong customer-facing and communication skills
  • The ability to manage multiple projects and priorities effectively
  • A proactive approach to problem solving and continuous improvement
