Join an established engineering business specialising in the design, manufacture, installation and service of technically advanced product handling and drive & control systems for worldwide markets.
Engineering Production Manager - The Role
- Plan production activity across a portfolio of machine build projects.
- Coordinate assembly activities to meet project schedules and deadlines.
- Manage production staff, contractors, equipment, materials and stock.
- Monitor labour costs against project budgets and manage overtime requirements.
- Identify and Escalate production, scheduling and budget concerns.
- Monitor and report on production efficiency and performance.
- Support engineering and project teams with technical, timing and scheduling issues.
- Lead weekly production review meetings with senior management.
- Ensure equipment meets required functional and aesthetic quality standards.
- Support customers and project teams during build visits and Factory Acceptance Tests.
- Manage team performance, appraisals, development and skills planning.
- Maintain high standards of Health & Safety, housekeeping and organisation across the shop floor.
- Ensure compliance with ISO 9001:2015 Quality Management Systems.
- Support continuous improvement across production processes.
Engineering Production Manager - The Person
We’re looking for an experienced Production Manager with a background in engineering or technically advanced manufacturing.
- Proven experience managing production, ideally within a low-volume, high-value environment.
- Experience building technically advanced equipment would be highly desirable.
- Degree or equivalent in Engineering, Production Management or a related discipline.
- Strong leadership and decision-making skills.
- Ability to manage priorities in a fast-paced production environment.
- Good understanding of Lean Manufacturing, 5S or Six Sigma.
- Knowledge of Quality Management Systems and Health & Safety.
- Good IT skills, including ERP, scheduling/project management systems and MS Office.
- Strong communication, organisation and analytical skills.
- Confidence working with production data and identifying areas for improvement.
- Ability to challenge existing processes and drive continuous improvement.
