We are working with an established UK engineering manufacturer who design and build bespoke, special-purpose machinery for a range of industrial applications. With a long-standing reputation for engineering quality and innovation, they are now looking to strengthen their electrical design capability with the addition of an Electrical Design Engineer.

Electrical Design Engineer - The Role:

This is a dedicated Electrical Design position focused on the design and development of electrical control systems for complex, engineered-to-order machinery. You will be responsible for:

  • Designing electrical control panels and systems
  • Producing detailed electrical schematics using AutoCAD Electrical
  • Selecting and specifying electrical and electronic components for use within control panels
  • Producing BOMs and supporting procurement activities
  • Working closely with mechanical and project teams to ensure integrated design solutions
  • Supporting occasional site visits (no commissioning-heavy travel requirements)

There is also the opportunity to develop PLC programming knowledge for candidates interested in expanding their skillset.

Electrical Design Engineer - The Person:

We are looking for someone with:

  • Experience of electrical industrial control panel design, ideally within machinery or OEM environments
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD Electrical (or willingness to transition from AutoCAD)
  • Strong understanding of control panels, schematics, and component selection
  • Ability to produce accurate technical documentation and BOMs
  • Good communication and teamwork skills
  • Qualified (or working towards) in Electrical or Electronic Engineering, with a solid academic foundation
  • Experience in control panel design and/or build, with the ability to size and select switchgear and associated components

This is a great opportunity to take ownership of electrical design within a stable and well-established engineering business, where your work will have a direct impact on bespoke, high value machinery projects. Located in West Yorkshire, this role would be commutable from Leeds, Bradford, Guiseley, Shipley, Brighouse, Huddersfield, Wakefield, Keighley, Dewsbury and surrounding areas. Potential for hybrid/flexible working once settled and probation passed.
