This workshop-based position offers full training, making it ideal for someone with a hands-on mechanical background who is looking to develop specialist skills in the build, calibration, testing and overhaul of bespoke mechanical equipment used in industrial machinery.
Mechanical Technician - The Role:
- Build and assemble mechanical units and sub-assemblies
- Set up mechanical kit on specialist test equipment and carry out calibration
- Perform functional testing, performance checks and quality inspections
- Strip down, inspect and overhaul returned units
- Clean, measure and assess components for wear, tolerances and reuse
- Follow detailed engineering drawings, work instructions and procedures
- Produce accurate build reports, test records and service documentation
- Support senior technicians with complex builds, fault investigations and overhaul work
- Maintain a safe, organised and high-quality workshop environment
Mechanical Technician - The Person:
- Strong mechanical aptitude with a background in Automotive, Plant, Marine, Industrial or similar environments
- Hands-on experience using mechanical tools and working with assemblies or precision components
- Good problem-solving skills and an interest in developing diagnostic abilities
- Ability to learn technical procedures and follow structured work instructions
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship
- Good communication skills and the ability to work effectively within a small technical team
Desirable:
- Mechanical maintenance, Automotive repair or Plant/Industrial equipment experience
- Understanding of mechanical tolerances or precision measurement
- Engineering qualification, apprenticeship or relevant vocational training
