Senior Controls Engineer £55k – £70k + Pension, Health Plan Staffordshire Ref: 24825 Senior Controls Engineer – The Role: Lead the design and development of PLC, HMI, and SCADA control systems Create and review functional design specs (FDS), test protocols, and commissioning reports Oversee on-site commissioning, ensuring quality, safety, and smooth handovers Manage project timelines, subcontractors, and procurement activities Act as the technical lead and main point of contact for clients throughout delivery Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to deliver innovative, integrated automation solutions Senior Controls Engineer – The Person: Proven expertise in PLC programming (Rockwell, Siemens, Mitsubishi, Schneider) Strong SCADA development experience (e.g. AVEVA System Platform, ClearSCADA, FactoryTalk View SE) Full project life cycle experience gained in a systems integrator or automation environment Confident communicator with client-facing experience and solid leadership skills Degree in engineering (or equivalent hands-on experience) Full UK driving licence for site-based work when required Benefits: Lead technically diverse automation projects with national exposure Influence project outcomes with room to innovate and take ownership Defined progression route to Principal Engineer or Technical Manager roles Flexible working, health plan, and support toward Chartered Engineer status Located in Staffordshire, this role would be commutable from Derby, Loughborough Lichfield, Burton on Trent, Stafford and surrounding areas.
