We are currently working with an engineering business who specialise in advanced surface finishing and precision manufacturing solutions for customers across a range of industrial sectors. They are actively seeking the role of a Control Systems Engineer to join their expanding engineering team. Working on a diverse portfolio of automation and capital projects, you'll play a key role in developing and improving production processes, leading control system projects from concept through to commissioning, while helping drive continuous improvement across a modern manufacturing environment.
Control Systems Engineer - The Role:
- Coordinate automation projects from initial order through to installation and commissioning
- Design, develop and modify PLC, HMI and SCADA control systems for manufacturing processes
- Support process improvements, capital equipment installations and automation upgrades
- Specify electrical control systems and prepare technical documentation and cost estimates
- Provide automation support and technical guidance to maintenance and production teams
- Carry out fault finding across PLC, electrical, mechanical, hydraulic and pneumatic systems
- Lead root cause investigations and implement long-term engineering solutions
- Manage contractors and ensure projects are delivered safely, on time and within budget
- Support continuous improvement initiatives to enhance manufacturing performance and reliability
- Work closely with production teams to optimise plant efficiency and minimise downtime
Control Systems Engineer - What We’re Looking For:
- HNC/HND or equivalent in Electrical, Controls or Electronic Engineering
- PLC programming experience with Allen Bradley Studio 5000. Mitsubishi GX Works advantageous but not essential
- Knowledge of electrical control system design using Autocad for production machinery
- Strong fault-finding skills across electrical, mechanical, hydraulic and pneumatic systems
- Excellent organisational, problem-solving and communication skills
- Manufacturing or heavy industrial experience would be beneficial
