A specialist engineering and design consultancy is seeking two Control Systems Engineers to join its expanding team. This is an excellent opportunity to become part of a fast-growing organisation with a strong, long-term order book and a reputation for delivering robust, bespoke solutions.

The role offers exposure to technically challenging projects within power generation and renewable energy, combining hands-on engineering with structured support and training. The company culture promotes technical integrity, reliability, and continuous improvement.

Control Systems Engineer - The Role:

As a Control Systems Engineer, you will be responsible for the design, development, and delivery of bespoke control and power systems. Key responsibilities include:

  • Concept design of electrical power and control systems
  • Design and implementation of Ethernet and serial communication networks
  • PLC programming using Siemens TIA Portal and/or Rockwell
  • Production of technical documentation (specifications, risk assessments, manuals, etc.)
  • Providing technical support to clients, both on-site and remotely
  • Peer review of engineering designs
  • Commissioning support at customer sites (up to 20% travel including international & offshore)

Control Systems Engineer - The Person:

The successful candidate will ideally have:

  • A degree (or equivalent) in an engineering discipline
  • PLC software experience (Siemens or Rockwell preferred, training can be given)
  • Familiarity with AutoCAD Electrical (advantageous but not essential)
  • Experience in power systems or high-voltage applications (highly desirable)
  • Ability to work independently and manage technical tasks with minimal supervision
  • Flexibility to travel internationally when required
  • Strong problem-solving skills, adaptability, and a proactive mindset

This is a great opportunity for a Control Systems Engineer who enjoys variety, ownership, and seeing their designs through to commissioning. You’ll be joining a supportive team where engineering quality matters and your contribution will be valued from day one.

Please note you will be required to travel offshore. Located in Tyne & Wear, this role would be commutable from Newcastle upon Tyne, Sunderland, Durham, Gateshead, Jarrow, Hebburn, Washington, Chester-le-Street, Blyth, Cramlington, Seaham North Shields, South Shields, Morpeth, Peterlee and surrounding areas.
