Mechanical Fitter - The Role
- Mechanical assembly and testing of mechanical systems including water, pneumatic, vacuum and inert gas systems
- Installation of pipework and components using mild steel, stainless steel and copper
- Assembly of manifolds, pump skids and interconnecting pipework
- Installation of pneumatic lines, valves, air islands and gas lines
- Installation of vacuum pipelines and associated components (bolted systems)
- Precision mechanical assembly of mechanical components to high quality standards
- Mechanical fault finding and inspection of component parts
- Vacuum and pressure testing of systems (training provided)
- Carry out on-site repairs and installations at customer premises
Mechanical Fitter - The Person
- Time served Mechanical Fitter with proven hands‑on experience
- Strong experience working with stainless steel, mild steel and copper pipework
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings is essential
- Experience in pneumatics and vacuum systems; hydraulics experience advantageous
- Brazing experience desirable; basic welding skills beneficial
- Flexible attitude and willingness to develop new skills
- Ideally holds forklift, scissor lift and confined space certifications
- Comfortable working both independently and as part of a team
Located in the Glasgow area, this role would be commutable from Cumbernauld, East Kilbride, Hamilton, Motherwell, Larkhall and surrounding areas.
