An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Electrical Design Engineer to join a well-established, specialist provider to the Marine sector, based in Central Scotland. This role offers end-to-end involvement across the full project lifecycle, including electrical hardware control panel design, PLC integration, final testing and commissioning, and the production of high-quality technical documentation, all within a collaborative, project-driven environment.
Responsibilities:
- Development of electrical panels containing Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs), LV modular distribution systems incorporating MCCs, transformers or switchboards.
- Involvement throughout whole lifecycle, from design through coding to testing, installation, configuration, and documentation with full QA procedures.
- Bid support, travel for technical input, customer liaison, and input to sales proposals.
- Working within the project team to meet customer deadlines.
- Providing technical support and guidance to a team of 2 Electrical Engineers.
- Design of electrical cabling and containment systems.
- Able to develop technical solutions to meet project and customer expectations.
Qualifications:
- Previous experience as an Electrical Design Engineer.
- Good customer-facing skills.
- Knowledge of the full project lifecycle.
- Innovative hardware background.
- Passion for engineering with significant experience.
- Solid understanding of PLC/SCADA system software and integration into panels.
- Experience with AutoCAD (highly advantageous); other mainstream electrical CAD packages (e.g. EPlan) also transferable.
- Instrumentation background highly preferred, as well as industry background in Marine / Oil & Gas / Water.
