An exciting opportunity for a Field Service Engineer to support customers in a variety of sectors, including Metal, Dyno Test Rigs, Hydrogen Electrolyzer PSUs, EV Charging points and Battery Energy Storage.
Field Service Engineer - The Role:
- Act as the primary point of contact between the business and customers, providing technical field support.
- Commission new AC and DC motor control systems, independently and as part of a team.
- Support a wide range of bespoke systems including metal processing, dyno test rigs, hydrogen electrolyser PSUs, EV charging, and battery energy storage.
- Carry out troubleshooting, in-field design modifications, and repair of control systems across multiple industries.
- Provide emergency breakdown support and rapid response to customer issues.
- Work closely with Project Engineers during system testing and functional verification.
- Ensure systems operate in line with Functional Design Specifications (where available).
- Deliver telephone, email, and remote technical support to customer engineering and maintenance teams.
- Analyse faults, propose alternative solutions, and implement optimal resolutions.
- Follow company service processes and standards at all times.
- Identify opportunities to promote additional services, upgrades, and spare parts.
- Hybrid role with extensive UK travel and occasional international travel (up to 60%).
- Flexible approach to working hours, including non-standard hours and on-call support.
- Work in varied environments including tight spaces and at height.
Field Service Engineer - The Person:
- HNC / HND or higher qualification in Electrical, Electronic or Automation Engineering.
- Completed apprenticeship in Electrical, Electronic or Automation discipline.
- Proven experience with AC and DC drives (essential).
- Experience with PLCs and HMIs (essential).
- Strong understanding of electrical fundamentals and computer-based systems.
- Excellent fault-finding and problem-solving skills.
- Confident working independently and as part of a team.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to liaise effectively with customers.
- Willing and able to travel frequently within the UK and Europe, sometimes at short notice.
- Flexible, proactive, and comfortable working in demanding site environments.
Located in Shropshire, this role would be commutable from Telford, Wolverhampton, Bridgnorth, Shrewsbury, Stafford. The company believes in providing the best support and solutions to customers.
