An exciting opportunity has arisen to join a leading provider of complex, engineered components serving highly demanding industries. The business operates state of the art CNC and automated manufacturing systems and continues to grow following the award of several new projects. As a result, there is an immediate requirement for an Applications Engineer.
The ideal candidate will have proven experience in programming and setting CNC machine tools, including 3-5 axis capability.
Applications Engineer - The Role:- Be able to understand and write CNC programs, mainly Siemens 840.
- Grinding / Machining components to drawing.
- Machine programming and setup for Grinding of sample customer parts.
- Development of processes to optimise machine cycles.
- Installation of NC standard machine cycles and operational data.
- Full functional testing of machines made in-house, to internal test procedures.
- Prepare machine and associated equipment for PDI and installation at customers' works.
- Carry out full machine installation, test and customer training at customers' works, globally.
- Provide customer with after sales technical support.
- Assist with product improvements / development.
- Carry out duties in a safe structured manner, adhering to health and safety requirements.
- Must be open to travel and work at any of our global customers' facilities.
- Excellent communication skills to train customers in the use of our machines and provide support.
- Have good experience of programming and setting CNC machines (Siemens Controls Preferred).
- Experience of grinding would be an advantage (Threads, Worms, Gears).
- Capable of reading component drawings and working to tolerances required.
- Experienced programmer / Setter (3-5 Axis) CNC machines (Siemens 840D is of advantage).
- Basic ability to read machine parts lists, assembly and mechanical drawings; basic ability to read electrical drawings would be an advantage.
- Be capable of completing and submitting reports or documentation in a timely manner.
Located in Coventry, West Midlands, this role would be commutable from Bedworth, Hinckley and other surrounding areas.
