An established and growing engineering business specialising in the design, manufacture, and installation of bespoke automation and production systems for the food manufacturing industry. This company delivers tailored solutions across automation, conveying, cooling, and handling equipment — supporting customers from concept through to commissioning and aftercare.

Employees enjoy a close-knit, collaborative environment where their contribution makes a real impact. The business offers hands-on involvement in complex machinery projects, exposure to cutting-edge technologies, and the chance to develop across multiple automation platforms.

As a Control Systems Engineer, you’ll play a key role in the full project lifecycle — from design and programming to on-site commissioning and customer support. You’ll work on a variety of UK-based projects with occasional international travel.

The Role:
  • PLC programming using Allen Bradley, Siemens or Schneider platforms
  • HMI and SCADA development (FactoryTalk, WinCC, RSView, or similar)
  • Supporting system installation, testing, and documentation
  • Producing machine technical manuals and risk assessments
  • Providing remote and on-site customer support
  • Occasional robot programming (Motoman preferred – training available)

We’re looking for an engineer confident in PLC and HMI software design (Rockwell or Siemens experience is essential). Additional experience with Schneider systems, robotics, or SCADA software would be highly beneficial.

You’ll enjoy a varied workload, thrive in a fast-paced environment, and be comfortable taking ownership of technical challenges. The ability to work autonomously and remain calm under pressure is key.

What’s on Offer:
  • Salary: £40,000 – £55,000 (depending on experience)
  • Overtime: Paid for site work (OTE £65,000–£70,000)
  • Hours: 38-hour week with a 12pm Friday finish
  • Hybrid Option: After probation, the option to work from home on Friday mornings
  • Travel: Typically 20–30%, including occasional 1–2 week commissioning trips (planned in advance)
  • Benefits: Private healthcare, 25 days’ holiday, and annual profit share (employee-owned structure)

This is a small team with a Technical Director keen on expansion. Engineers are encouraged to remain active within all parts of the process. There will be plenty of opportunity available for you to further develop skills with other technology such as SCADA & Robotics to complement your PLC & HMI skills.
