Mechanical Fitter - The Role

  • Mechanical assembly and testing of mechanical systems including water, pneumatic, vacuum and inert gas systems
  • Installation of pipework and components using mild steel, stainless steel and copper
  • Assembly of manifolds, pump skids and interconnecting pipework
  • Installation of pneumatic lines, valves, air islands and gas lines
  • Installation of vacuum pipelines and associated components (bolted systems)
  • Precision mechanical assembly of mechanical components to high quality standards
  • Mechanical fault finding and inspection of component parts
  • Vacuum and pressure testing of systems (training provided)
  • Carry out on-site repairs and installations at customer premises

Mechanical Fitter - The Person

  • Time served Mechanical Fitter with proven hands-on experience
  • Strong experience working with stainless steel, mild steel and copper pipework
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings is essential
  • Experience in pneumatics and vacuum systems; hydraulics experience advantageous
  • Brazing experience desirable; basic welding skills beneficial
  • Flexible attitude and willingness to develop new skills
  • Ideally holds forklift, scissor lift and confined space certifications
  • Comfortable working both independently and as part of a team

Located in the Glasgow area, this role would be commutable from Cumbernauld, East Kilbride, Hamilton, Motherwell, Larkhall and surrounding areas.
