Role Summary
The (Senior) Medical Science Liaison (MSL) is responsible for scientifically engaging, collaborating, and aligning with a broad range of external stakeholders to address patient needs and improve medical practice for better access and outcomes. MSLs leverage evidence during scientific engagements, identify medical intelligence and opportunities, and contribute to medical communication, data generation, launch strategies, patient journey, and medical strategy. They act as strategic scientific partners, collaborating with colleagues across functions to support healthcare systems and improve patient access.
Key Responsibilities
- Establish, develop, and maintain long-term professional partnerships with external stakeholders, including healthcare professionals, researchers, payers, and opinion leaders.
- Communicate evidence appropriately to enable informed decision-making.
- Partner with health systems to identify medical intelligence, data gaps, and opportunities for data generation to improve patient outcomes.
- Support clinical trial processes in collaboration with research colleagues.
- Respond to stakeholder requests for information with appropriate, timely data sharing.
- Identify and share external medical intelligence and unmet needs to enhance patient access.
- Map and engage external stakeholders with tailored strategies and leverage digital channels for broader impact.
- Apply scientific engagement principles aligned with medical strategy.
- Contribute to patient journey mapping, launch plans, and evidence generation.
- Serve as a scientific expert to field colleagues, providing guidance and training.
- Manage personal development and administrative tasks efficiently.
- Adhere to company ethics, compliance policies, and external engagement guidelines.
KPIs include time on field activities, plan implementation, quality of medical intelligence, and process management.
